As a further benefit for our clients, Animal Care Center now has digital dentistry.  In the past, a dental examination did not necessarily involve a full mouth x-ray.  The general level of detail of the radiographs often did not justify the length of time necessary or the radiographic exposure to the animal.  With digital dentistry, veterinarians now have the capacity to quickly see minute detail and find hidden problems at a level of precision not previously possible.  So for e.g., in cats, before digital dentistry, it was often difficult to find and treat teeth broken or cracked below the gum line where hidden infection could lodge.  Digital dentistry now makes that a routine part of preventive care. 

Digital dentistry is far less invasive, and is far quicker with a marked reduction in radiographic exposure.  While these characteristics are important for all companion animals, they have revolutionized geriatric dental care for both cats and dogs, another area of major advancement.
