Chronic Conditions are defined as illnesses or injuries that require long-term treatment. Over the years, the lifespan of the average pet has increased as a result of better nutrition and medical care. However, this has also resulted in the development of illnesses related to older age. Examples of chronic illnesses include (but are not limited to) arthritis, valley fever, diabetes, thyroid disease, Cushing’s disease, heart disease, and kidney disease.
Diseases can be complicated, and from the moment of diagnosis, we want to set a long-term plan with you to care for your pet. No two pets are the same, and treating the same illness in two different pets can be quite different depending on each individual’s circumstances. We want you to be proactive in your pet’s health, and provide you with tools to be an engaged member of your pet’s health care team. The good news is that as new treatments become available, we can utilize new technologies and medications to provide your pet with better care and with better results than was previously possible.
Together, we can provide the care that your pet needs and maximize the quality of life that your pet and family deserve. As a team, we can decide which treatment will best address your pet’s illness while keeping family life as normal as possible.
